A renowned cheese expert, she made industry history by becoming the first French woman to win the title of Meilleure Fromagère du Monde at the 2021 Mondial du Fromage international competition held in Tours, France.
A graduate in German literature, she followed her husband in opening a cheese shop and quickly discovered a world she fell in love with. She subsequently abandoned her plans for an academic PhD to dedicate herself entirely to dairy products.
In particular, she focused on developing natural aging caves located within the underground vaulted foundations of the Citadel of Arras in northern France.
Today, she works in the events sector, creating cheese experiences, tasting workshops, cheese-focused training, and cheese pairing—the art of matching cheeses with elements such as wine, beer, honey, and jams.
Virginie won the Lyre d’Or in 2016, the gold medal at the Fontainebleau competition in 2018, and was the runner-up at the Mondial du Fromage in 2019.
