He is one of France’s most prominent and authoritative master cheesemakers. In 2004, he was awarded the title of Meilleur Ouvrier de France – classe fromager, the highest recognition of excellence for a French master cheesemaker, and in 2018, he became President of the competition. He has also been awarded the title of Knight of the National Order of Agricultural Merit.
The grandson of livestock breeders and dairy producers, and the son of a cheesemaker, he grew up immersed in cheese culture. His work in sourcing small local producers is meticulous: he selects the cheeses and tends to them in his aging cellars, applying strict temperature and humidity controls to develop unique flavor profiles.
His exclusive boutique shops, managed alongside his wife Corinne Legiret, are located in the 16th arrondissement of Paris (Fromagerie d’Auteuil) and in Versailles (Fromagerie de Versailles).
The prestige of his work is so renowned that on the occasion of historic state visits, such as that of Queen Elizabeth II, his family was chosen to present the excellence of French artisanal cheesemaking to heads of state.
