He won over the judges by aging a Cheddar cheese inside a special “coal cave” that he built alongside his father—a tribute to the mining history of his Welsh hometown.
Owen has worked in the dairy industry for over 20 years, including 15 years in London at a national wholesaler of artisanal cheeses and high-quality gourmet products. Upon returning to Wales, he founded Tŷ Caws in 2020, a renowned artisanal cheese shop based in Cardiff that has quickly earned a reputation as one of the leading independent cheesemongers in the United Kingdom.
